Does CBD Show Up On A Drug Test?
The enactment of the 2018 Farm Bill marked a giant step forward for the CBD industry. For the first time in U.S. history, (regulated) production of hemp-derived products, including hemp-derived CBD products, were made legal. However, many questions remain in regard to the legalities of CBD use. Are you curious, does CBD show up on a drug test? More often than not people are left with questions about how CBD manifests itself in the body and whether or not it shows up on a drug test.
Let me start by saying that itâs not likely hemp-derived CBD would show up on a drug test. Hemp-derived CBD is less likely to contain THC (the stuff that flags on a drug test) than marijuana-derived CBD because hemp-derived CBD is legally required to contain 0.3% or less of THC. A high-quality CBD brand like Seabedee, for example, ensures customers that their CBD products are Farm Bill Compliant, 3rd Party Lab Tested, Non GMO and is exclusively hemp-derived CBD. Seabedeeâs transparency establishes credibility, and therefore poses as a trustworthy brand to buy from. We always answer questions like âdoes CBD show up on a drug testâ?
Furthermore, harvesting and farming techniques play a role in determining which compounds appear in CBD. Typically CBD extracts are formulated as full-spectrum, broad-spectrum or as CBD isolate. Full-spectrum CBD comes from hemp and includes all the naturally-occurring compounds found in the plant: Flavonoids, terpenes, and cannabinoids (including THC) are all present. However, hemp-derived CBD must contain 0.3% or less of THC, so rest assured that the THC content isnât significant in full-spectrum CBD. While the fact is that full spectrum CBD does pose a risk to show up on a drug test, there are forms of CBD that may carry much less risk!
Broad-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate have all traces of THC removed from it. The difference between these two extracts is that broad-spectrum CBD still contains terpenes and other cannabinoids, while CBD isolate is pure CBD and does not include any other compounds.1
In laymanâs terms, high-quality, hemp-derived CBD will be less likely to show up on a drug test, especially if it is formulated as broad-spectrum CBD or CBD isolate.
